Bird Model: Bluebird

This listing is for one Eastern Bluebird model. It is made of stoneware ceramic, nichrome wire (kiln wire) and glazed with various colours of underglaze as well as clear glaze. As you can see it is a very delicate item, so it should be treated care!

The Bluebird is such a sweet bird! In real life the males are so vibrantly blue, its so cool to spot one (or a pair more likely!). I first saw bluebirds when they were nesting in a nesting box near my partners family home up here in Ontario (Canada).

You may notice there are 2 little wire dots on the bottom of the base of the bird and that is because the way I glaze fire the birds is by inserting a wire hook into the base (the lump of clay the bird is standing on) and hang it upside down in the kiln (on a rig) so that it keeps the bird nice and straight while firing. Then after firing is complete I cut off that wire loop from the bottom of the bird model!

note: this is a handmade product and like any handmade product small imperfections and variations are a normal part of the process/final product!
