Bird Model: Belted Kingfisher

This listing is for one Belted Kingfisher bird model. It is made of stoneware ceramic, nichrome wire (kiln wire) and glazed with various colours of underglaze as well as clear glaze. As you can see it is a very delicate item, so it should be treated care!

The belted kingfisher is such a cool bird! It makes a loud rattling sound so you can definitely hear it coming before you can see it. There are a couple that live (at least for the season) at a storm pond near my home. They are often just perched on the branch of a dead tree. I love how they patiently sit on the branch and wait for their opportunity to strike an unsuspecting fish. I believe the Belted Kingfisher is the only kingfisher we have in Canada, so I had to immortalize it in ceramic!
